PETER WAPLES-CROWE Presents "The personal is political"

Hosted by Melbourne Fringe Festival’s Critical Mass

Peter Waples-Crowe will explore the writings and images of a failed attempt at a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA). Using auto ethnography as a frame work, Peter will look at the ways his art and writing stems from his lived experience as Ngarigo queer person.

PETER WAPLES-CROWE is a Ngarigo queer artist and Aboriginal Health worker whose artwork has featured in many spaces throughout Victoria and beyond. His intersecting experiences as an Aboriginal person and his work with community health and arts organisations give him a unique perspective as an artist and community cultural development worker. Waples-Crowe creates bold colourful work that explores the representation of Aboriginal people in popular culture, often referencing the dingo as a totemic figure and an analogy for Indigenous peoples. Peter lives in Melbourne.
